During the colder months you can sometimes see the mountain crest shrouded in clouds, and those are my favorite days to go hiking up there. It’s mostly empty, extremely quiet, and the perfect amount of eerie. You never quite feel alone up here. You marvel at the ice formations caused by whipping winds. You respect the forest and turn back when your gut tells you to.
